Last year’s “Fall-Out” vintage drag racing event was record-breaking for Rock Falls Raceway. We set another attendance record and proved once again that old-school drag racing is here to stay! Now, we’re just over one week away from the next annual Fall-Out event, and we couldn’t be more excited to be welcoming Meltdown Drag Association competitors and race fans alike back to the track for another great show featuring 1966 & Earlier Hot Rods, Super Stocks, Gassers, A/FX, Altereds and Vintage Front-Engine Dragsters. So far, we have well over one hundred entries and a whole lot of excitement!
To preface this year’s Fall-Out race, the “Meltdown Drags” celebrated an extremely successful 9th anniversary at Byron Dragway in Illinois, with the nation’s largest collection of vintage drag cars and bikes registered to compete. In fact, the Meltdown Drags have become so popular that the number of registrants greatly exceeds the number of cars allowed to participate! It remains the nation’s single largest vintage drag racing event, which is an ode to Vintage Drag Racing 101; the group responsible for coordinating the whole thing! Luckily for us, they’re also putting on the Fall-Out, so we’re guaranteed an incredible show!
Aside from the incredible vintage racecars on track, attendants will also have plenty to take advantage of off the track, with concessions, food trucks, beer, and souvenirs available throughout the event. Limited spectator camping is also available for those who just can’t bear to leave the fun behind! Although the official Fall-Out schedule ends on Saturday night (9/29), a Muscle Car race on Sunday will bring a larger variety of drag racing vehicles to the track to compete alongside Gassers from the Meltdown Drags. It’s going to be a weekend to remember, and we certainly hope you can join us!
